An Indian-origin couple from Andhra Pradesh was killed in a tragic road accident in the United States, while their two children sustained critical injuries, officials and community sources said on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Kotikalapudi Krishna Kishore (45) and his wife Asha (40), natives of Palakollu town in West Godavari district. The fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday in the state of Washington, when their car was allegedly hit by a vehicle being driven by a drunk driver travelling in the wrong direction.

Accident Involving Drunk Driver

According to preliminary reports, the accident took place around 2.30 am when the couple’s vehicle was rammed with severe force, reportedly involving a truck as well. The impact was so intense that both Krishna Kishore and Asha suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot.

Their bodies have been shifted to a hospital in Maryland, where formalities are being completed before further arrangements are made by relatives and community members.

The couple’s two children, a son and a daughter, were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. They sustained grievous injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they underwent emergency surgeries. Doctors have described their condition as critical, and the children remain under close medical observation.

Family members in India have been informed about the tragedy, and efforts are underway to provide all possible support to the injured children.
