US President Donald Trump, speaking before world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), reiterated his claim that he ended seven longstanding wars across the globe, including the conflict between India and Pakistan. In his address, Trump criticised the UN for what he described as its ineffectiveness in handling global conflicts.

Trump told world leaders that in just seven months, he had resolved conflicts that were otherwise considered “unendable.” “They said they were unendable…Some were going for 31 years. Two of them, 31 think of it, 31 years. One was 36 years, one was 28 years,” he said. He listed the conflicts as Cambodia-Thailand, Kosovo-Serbia, Congo-Rwanda, India-Pakistan, Israel-Iran, Egypt-Ethiopia, and Armenia-Azerbaijan.

Trump used his UNGA platform to criticise the United Nations, calling it largely ineffective in resolving conflicts. “It’s too bad that I had to do these things instead of the United Nations doing them, and sadly, in all cases, the United Nations did not even try to help in any of them,” he said.
