US-Iran War: Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said that the leaders of the United States and Iran will begin talks in Islamabad tomorrow, aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in West Asia. According to officials, senior officials from both countries are expected to take part in the discussions, which are being viewed as part of broader efforts to sustain the recent de-escalation.

Pakistan To Host High-Level US-Iran Talks

The meetings in Islamabad will be hosted by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Pakistan's military leadership will also be represented, including Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir and National Security Adviser and ISI Chief Asim Malik, alongside senior officials from the Foreign Office and the defence establishment.

JD Vance To Lead US Delegation For Talks With Iran

US Vice President JD Vance has departed to lead the Washington delegation for the peace talks with Iran in Islamabad. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and former senior adviser to President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, will also be a part of the delegation.

CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper, along with representatives from the White House, the Pentagon, and the United States Embassy in Islamabad are also expected to attend the meeting.

Ghalibaf, Araghchi To Lead Talks In Islamabad

Iran will be represented by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr. Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi and Iran's Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam are also part of the delegation.

What We Know Ahead Of US-Iran Talks In Islamabad?

- Ahead of the peace talks in Islamabad, Iran has set two key conditions for the negotiations, calling for a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran's blocked assets.

- In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher wrote, "Two of the measures mutually agreed upon between the parties have yet to be implemented: a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s blocked assets prior to the commencement of negotiations. These two matters must be fulfilled before negotiations begin."

- Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that US warships are being reloaded with 'best ammunition' to strike Iran if talks in Pakistan fail to produce a deal.

- "We have a reset going. We’re loading up the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made — even better than what we did previously, and we blew them apart," he said in a telephone interview with the New York Post.

- Slamming Iran over its control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Trump said, "The Iranians don’t seem to realise they have no cards, other than a short-term extortion of the World by using International Waterways. The only reason they are alive today is to negotiate."

- Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the leaders of the United States and Iran will begin discussions in Islamabad tomorrow.
