Amid ongoing tensions with Iran, US President Donald Trump on Saturday shared an edited image showing Iran covered in the colours of the American flag. His post has sparked discussion on social media over what it could mean amid fragile ceasefire and reports of “progress” in peace negotiations.
Trump Shares Iran Map In US Flag Colours
In a post on Truth Social, Trump shared a map of the Middle East showing Iran covered in the colours of the American flag, with the caption: “United States of the Middle East?”. The image appeared to highlight only Iran, while countries like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Syria were not shown in the same way. This is not the first time that Trump has posted such images targeting Tehran.
Is The US Continuing Military Action?
Earlier, Trump had posted AI-generated images depicting missile strikes on Iranian boats, outer space warfare and an American flag flying over Iran. His posts come amid reports of renewed discussions within the US administration over possible military action against Iran if the talks fail. According to an Axios report, citing US officials, Trump is “seriously considering” launching fresh military strikes against Iran if last-minute diplomatic efforts fail to produce a breakthrough.

Earlier in the day, Trump said the US and Iran are “getting a lot closer” to finalising an agreement. Speaking to CBS News, Trump stressed that he would decide whether to resume military action against Iran by Sunday. Marco Rubio Signal Progress In Talks
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is currently on a four-day official visit to India, revealed that active progress is being made toward a peace agreement with Iran. Rubio said, “There's been some progress made. Even as I speak to you now, there's some work being done. This issue needs to be solved, as the President said, one way or the other. Iran can never have nuclear weapons. The straits need to be opened without tolls. They need to turn over their enriched uranium; they need to turn over the highly enriched uranium.”
