US President Donald Trump was given a grand welcome in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking the final leg of his strategic Middle East visit after stops in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi, he was received by UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the opulent Qasr Al Watan, the UAE’s Presidential Palace.
Trump participated in a formal state reception, which included ceremonial tea and an official dinner with high-ranking Emirati officials. One of the most striking moments of the ceremony featured the traditional Emirati performance art known as Al-Ayyala, highlighted by the iconic “hair flip” dance.
What Is Al-Ayyala Dance?
Al-Ayyala is a revered traditional performance in the UAE and parts of Oman. It typically involves rows of men wielding thin bamboo canes in a simulated battle formation while chanting in unison. Accompanying them are young women known as Na’ashat, who toss their long hair side to side in rhythmic synchronisation. This "hair flip" is more than theatrical flair; it is a powerful symbol of pride, strength, and victory in Emirati culture.

AI On Agenda
Beyond cultural displays, Trump’s visit carries significant geopolitical and economic weight. According to a report by The Economic Times, the United States and UAE have reached a preliminary agreement to allow the Emirates to import 500,000 of Nvidia’s most advanced AI chips annually starting this year.
This marks Trump's most extensive overseas tour since his return to political prominence and reflects renewed efforts to cement US influence in the Gulf. In addition to AI cooperation, the trip included conversations around peace, regional security, and infrastructure investments.
The Qasr Al Watan palace, an architectural marvel completed in 2017, served as the symbolic setting for these high-level engagements.
