Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin for attacking Kyiv while Prime Minister Modi was in Moscow during his trip almost six weeks ago. Slamming the Russian premier, Zelenskyy termed his actions as a disrespect to India and PM Modi. He termed the visit by the Indian PM a 'good beginning with practical steps'.
This comes as Zelenskyy was responding to the questions of Indian media after he met with Prime Minister Modi in Kyiv. While he hailed the Indian influence on global issues, he also requested India to stop Putin.
'India Can Host 2nd World Peace Summit'
Zelenskyy said that he would support it if India could host the second World Peace Summit. He said that he even told PM Modi that the next summit could be held in India.
"As for the Peace Summit, I truly believe that the second Peace Summit has to take place. It would be good if it would be held in one of the Global South Countries...I perfectly support this and told PM Modi that we could have the Global Peace Summit in India. It's a big country, it's a great democracy - the largest..." Zelenskyy said.
'Putin's A Killer, He Should Be Isolated'
Ukrainian President, who's helming the war-torn country through the conflict, also shared his views on his Russian counterpart Putin.
"...I believe that if the leaders of the world are meeting with other leaders who kill people and children, conquer territories, and invade the territories, it means that there is no diplomatic isolation to this person. It means that this is an act... A person like Putin would understand that he's doing something wrong, that he is isolated, that he's alone, and that the whole world condemns him. That is why I believe that we cannot remain silent. We have to respond. And I always respond because I know what would be the end to that...So I will keep reminding anyone we have context with, and I think this is important," he said.
'Can't Compare Israel-Hamas War With Us'
On the question regarding the nature of the conflict between Israel and Gaza, Ukraine said that both are different and can not be compared.
"It is a very sensitive moment...We cannot compare our war, the war of Russia against Ukraine, I wouldn't say that there a significant religious discrepancies between our countries. There are a lot of different religions and I guess that the same religions are available in Russia. So, it is not a war that has anything to do with religious discrepancies. This is a war of one person, that's it...In our case, we have a person who is gradually doing all the steps...This is the war of this man, he had this idea. We can't compare it with a war, with a crisis in the Middle East..." Zelenskyy said.
