As Israel continues its offensive in the Middle East, US officials have expressed frustration over several Israeli military and intelligence operations due to a lack of prior consultation or notification. Alarmingly, the Biden administration was only informed about one operation after Israeli jets were already en route for an airstrike.

Furthermore, US media reports revealed that the Israelis did not inform their American counterparts in advance about their plan to assassinate Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. This growing rift raises concerns about the coordination between the US and Israel amid escalating tensions in the region.

Israel's decision to withhold information regarding its retaliation plans following last week's ballistic missile attack by Iran has led to frustration among US officials, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. While Israel has pledged to respond to the attack, the Biden administration has cautioned its ally against targeting Iran's oil facilities or nuclear sites due to concerns about escalating tensions and the potential for an all-out war in the Middle East.

According to a report by Axios, US officials stated that while the Biden administration does not object to Israel's response to last week's Iranian attack, it is advocating for a measured approach. "Our trust in the Israelis is currently very low, and there are good reasons for that," one official remarked.

Israel's Airstrike On Hezbollah Leader Nasrallah Surprises US Officials

Last month, Israel eliminated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike as the conflict in the Middle East escalated at Israel's northern border with Lebanon. The US stated that it was not notified in advance about Israel's plans to strike the Hezbollah headquarters.

According to a report from Axios, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan indicated that if the US is kept in the dark about Israeli operations, it may not automatically support efforts to counter another Iranian missile attack on Israel, according to one official. Nonetheless, US officials acknowledge that the United States would likely assist Israel in defending itself regardless of the situation.
