As Israel considers its options for a retaliatory strike against Iran following a missile attack earlier this month, US officials report that the country has focused its potential targets on Tehran's military and energy infrastructure.

The exact timing and details of the potential retaliation are still uncertain, but US and Israeli sources indicate that the strike might occur during the Yom Kippur holiday.

During a recent conversation with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also voiced concerns regarding reports of Israeli strikes near UN peacekeeping positions in Lebanon. According to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), five peacekeepers have been injured in three separate incidents since Thursday.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah militants flared up a year ago when Hezbollah began firing rockets into northern Israel at the onset of the Gaza war, and it has escalated significantly in recent weeks.
