US Vice President Kamala Harris said she was ‘scared as heck’ over the thought that Donald Trump might return to the White House. This came after the former US President registered a resounding victory in the Iowa caucuses, the first step in the battle to reach the top post. "I am scared as heck, which is why I'm travelling to our country... we should all be scared," Harris said at a talk show on the ABC network, AFP reported.

She also said they will display a strong fight as one shouldn’t run from things they are scared of. "We don't run away from something when we're scared, we fight back against it," she added.

59-year-old Harris was responding to a question on former president Barack Obama’s concerns over the Biden campaign and the ex-first lady Michelle Obama saying she was ‘terrified’ of a second Trump term.

Former US president Donald Trump on Monday achieved his first milestone in the presidential race. Trump won the Iowa caucuses, the crucial first vote to secure his place in the white house. The victory came when Trump was entangled in a legal battle over a plethora of issues. It was anticipated that Trump's legal problems might have dampened his support but this victory came as a major breather for him, which portrays him as a strong contender in November's election.

Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy decided to opt out of the 2024 US presidential race after Donald Trump won the Iowa caucus. The 38-year-old entrepreneur announced on Tuesday. Ramaswamy said he was ending his campaign after a disappointing performance in the Iowa caucuses.

“As of this moment, we are going to suspend this presidential campaign. There’s no path for me to be the next president absent things that we don’t want to see happen in this country,” Ramaswamy said.

Ramaswamy congratulated Trump on his victory and endorsed him for the presidential berth. “As I’ve said since the beginning, there are two America first candidates in this race and I called Donald Trump to tell him that. I congratulated him on his victory and now going forward he will have my full endorsement for the presidency, and I think we’re gonna do the right thing for this country,” he said while addressing his supporters in Iowa. Earlier, he hailed Trump as the “best president of the 21st century” in the past, while also urging Republican voters to choose “fresh legs” and “take our America First agenda to the next level.”
