As many as seven persons were shot dead inside two homes in US’ Chicago, news agency Reuters reported citing police sources. Police couldn't immediately ascertain the motive behind the shooting but said the victims were believed to be members of the same family. 

The incident took place at the 2200 block of West Acres Road in Joliet, Illinois and the accused has been absconding.

Joliet Police chief William Evans, at a press conference, said local sheriff's deputies and agents for the FBI's fugitive task force were assisting in the manhunt. “At this moment, Detectives and Officers are conducting an active homicide investigation after Officers located multiple deceased individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds in two homes in the 2200 block of West Acres Road,” the department posted on X.

The police department identified the suspect as 23-year-old Romeo Nance, whom authorities said should be considered armed and dangerous. They asked people to contact their local law enforcement agency if they got any information about the suspect. "Anyone with information regarding Nance and this vehicle is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Joliet Police Department," the department posted on X.
