US President Donald Trump on Wednesday pointed out the choice of socks of Vice President JD Vance during a meeting with Ireland's Prime Minister Micheal Martin. Trump stated that while he tried to be focused, Vance's socks distracted him and he found them fascinating. In a viral video on several social media platforms, Donald Trump, JD Vance and Micheal Martin could be seen briefing the press when the US President pointed out Vance's socks.
Trump stated that he was distracted by Vance's cream-coloured socks with green shamrocks scattered all over the socks. While replying to a post, JD Vance stated that he knew that the US President will comment on his socks. During the press briefing, Trump stated that while he intended to speak on inflation, he was impressed with Vance's socks.

“I have to just, speak of inflation, I love these socks," Trump pointed at Vance’s feet. “What’s with these socks?" he further asked. “I’m trying to stay focused, but I’m very impressed with the VP’s socks," Trump added, while JD Vances and Irish prime minister burst out laughing. However, the response from the US President was not a surprise to Vance as Trump reportedly prefers conservative dress.
“The president is a very big fan of conservative dress. So, if he notices these socks, you [Martin] have to defend me and you’ve got to say this is an important part of cementing the Irish-American relationship," Vance stated. He further stated that the top office bearers of the US and Ireland are going to remind people of the strong bond that America and Ireland shared.
“One of the things that we try to do with this breakfast is remind people of the important bonds of friendship between the United States and Ireland," Vance stated. Ireland's Prime Minister Micheal Martin is expected to have discussion on many crucial issues with Trump and Vance.
