Amid growing speculation about Iran's New Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s health and whereabouts, Israel has warned to “find” and kill him. This comes after the Israeli military on Tuesday killed two top Iranian officials, Ali Larijani and Gholamreza Soleimani, dealing a significant blow to Tehran's top leadership.

Israel Vows To Kill Mojtaba Khamenei

The Times of Israel, in its report, quoted Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin, who vowed that the military will “hunt down” Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. Addressing a press conference on the killing of a top Iranian official, Defrin stated that Israel has been striking all leaders of the regime since the start of the war. He asserted that while no one knows where Mojtaba is, the Israeli military will continue to pursue anyone who poses a threat and neutralize him. Defin stated that Mojtaba is certainly not "immune" at present, highlighting Israel's intention to eliminate him.

“Mojtaba Khamenei, we don’t know his fate. We don’t hear him, we don’t see him, but I can tell you one thing, we will continue, as we have proven, we will continue to pursue anyone who poses a threat to the State of Israel or raises a hand against it. He is not immune. We will pursue him, find him, and neutralize him," the IDF spokesperson said.

Where Is Mojtaba Khamenei?

Israel’s warning is significant as the United States had previously warned to target the new Iranian Supreme Leader, who has not been seen in public since the start of war. While Mojtaba continued to issue statements in between, the leader did not appear in public, raising speculation about his condition. According to reports, Mojtaba was also targetted in the strikes that killed his father, Ali Khamenei; however, he narrowly escaped. Mojtaba is reported to have sustained injuries to his leg. Earlier on March 11, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s son, Yousef Pezeshkian stated that Mojtaba was "safe and sound.”

Adding to speculations, United States President Donald Trump on Monday stated that it remained uncertain if Mojtaba was alive.Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, “We don't know... if he's dead or not. I will say that nobody has seen him, which is unusual. A lot of people are saying that he's badly disfigured. They're saying that he lost his leg, one leg, and he's, you know, been hurt very badly. Other people are saying he's dead. Nobody's saying he's 100 percent healthy. You know he hasn't spoken.”
