Isareli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in his UNGA address, stated that launching an attack on Iran was one of his easiest decisions. Netanyahu's remarks came after dozens of delegates booed and walked off the hall as he took the rostrum. While describing them as "moral cowards", the Israeli prime minister questioned their silence on Iran's attack on Israel.

Netanyahu Slams Mamdani

Netanyahu further slammed New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani for calling him a war criminal and allegedly trying to stop him from coming to the city. "You tried to stop me from coming here. You tried. You tried to silence me. Well, you can't silence me. You can't silence the truth," Netanyahu asserted.

Earlier, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday clarified that Tehran has no ambition to develop a nuclear bomb. The Iranian president further stated that the international inspectors can verify its nuclear programme, adding that Iran's nuclear programme was not aimed at developing a bomb. He further blamed the US for escalating the tensions instead of resolving the conflict through dialogue.

'Nuclear Weapon Is Unholy'

Pezeshkian, while speaking to Fox News on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, clarified that Tehran has no ambition of possessing a nuclear weapon, further calling it unholy and illegal. "Not at all. Not at all. Our martyred, esteemed supreme leader had announced several times that from a religious decree, it is unholy. It is illegal," the Iranian president said.

While agreeing to inspection by an international team, Pezeshkian asserted that Tehran is ready to reduce its enriched nuclear material. He further alleged that Iran's nuclear programme was not aimed at developing a nuclear bomb. "So that weapon's mass destruction. We said we're willing to dilute them. It's not a big deal. We are willing to submit ourselves to verification," Pezeshkian was quoted as saying by Fox News.

Pezeshkian Criticises US

However, he pointed out that the tension could be resolved only through dialogues, further accusing the US of bombing the Iranian territories. "The problem is that America, instead of conducting dialogue, they descend into the arena by bombing us first, by blocking every pathway. They attacked us," he said.

Earlier on September 22, US President Donald Trump reiterated that the central aim of America was to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. However, he assured that both of the countries would eventually reach a settlement after months of military conflict that began in February this year.
