Nargis Fakhri's sister, Aliya Fakhri, has been arrested by the police in New York on charges of murdering her ex-boyfriend and his friend. According to a report by People Agency, Aliya was arrested on November 26, and the following day, a jury charged her with four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of second-degree murder. She has not been granted bail so far. If found guilty, Aliya could face a life sentence in prison.

Who is Aliya Fakhri 

Aliya Fakhri, 43, is the younger sister of actress Nargis Fakhri, known for her role in Rockstar. Aliya grew up in Queens, New York. Her father, Mohammad Fakhri, is Pakistani, and her mother, Mary Fakhri, is Czech. Nargis and Aliya’s parents divorced when they were young.

Nargis Fakhri has had no contact with her sister for over 20 years, India Today reported citing a source close to the actress. Nargis was reportedly unaware of the incident until the media brought it to light. Nargis hasn’t yet commented on the matter. 

About the incident

Reports suggest that Aliya’s ex, 35-year-old Edward Jacobs, a father of three children, broke up with her a year ago. Aliya’s mother told the New York Post that she was shocked by the breakup. 

Jacobs's mother said that her son was trying to convince Aliya to stay away from home but refused to comply with his request.

On November 23, Aliya Fakhri was arrested after allegedly setting fire to a separate garage at a house in the borough of Queens. The fire led to the deaths of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs, and his friend, Anastasia Etienne, aged 33. Prosecutors claim that Fakhri was heard shouting, “You are all going to die today,” before starting the fire at 6:20 am.
