Zainab Nasrallah, the daughter of top Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike that rocked Beirut, the latest in an escalating series of blows over 10 days that have shaken Hezbollah. The reports came at the same time when several media outlets claimed killing of  Lebanon's Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah  in an Israeli attack.

Her death was reported by Israeli news channel Channel 12, however, there is no official confirmation of the same yet. Zainab was well-known for her outspoken backing of Hezbollah and the sacrifices made by her family.

Abandoning their homes in the southern suburbs, thousands of Lebanese congregated in squares, parks and sidewalks in downtown Beirut and seaside areas.

"They want to destroy Dahiye, they want to destroy all of us," said Sari, a man in his 30s who gave only his first name, referring to the suburb he had fled after an Israeli evacuation order. 

After the assault on Friday, which was by far the most powerful by Israel on Beirut during nearly a year of conflict with Hezbollah, the Israelis launched an unprecedented five hours of nonstop bombings early Saturday.

It marked a sharp escalation of a conflict that has involved daily missile and rocket fire between the two sides.

The IDF also shared on X about the strikes against Hezbollah terrorist strongholds in Beirut and wrote, "Following precise IDF intelligence, the IAF is currently conducting strikes on strategic terrorist targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organisation in the area of Beirut."

The IDF provided further details on the strategic targets struck in Beirut and said, "Among the targets struck are weapons production facilities, buildings used to store advanced weapons and key command centers of the terrorist organisation."

It also warned residents of Dahieh neighbourhoods in Beirut, urging them to distance themselves from Hezbollah assets and facilities, asserting that their war is with Hezbollah and not Lebanese people.
