Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024:German automobile giant Volkswagen Group is participating in the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Volkswagen Group is looking to introduce an entry-level electric vehicle (EV) in India by the second-half of this decade. Piyush Arora, CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India said, “We are evaluating which VW Group platform can be best adapted to build a compact electric SUV in India," said Piyush Arora, CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India.The new electric vehicle (EV) would need the volumes to justify a "three-figure million-dollar investment.”

The carmaker is looking at exporting the new EV to southeast Asia, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and North Africa, he said. The firm is extensively testing the Skoda Enyaq electric SUV for a possible launch in India, Arora said, but did not disclose a timeline.
Skoda Enyaq iV electric SUV is currently being showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The Enyaq iV marks Skoda's debut in the Indian electric vehicle market as its first electric offering. Post its launch, this electric SUV is expected to be the brand’s flagship offering in the country. It is likely that the Skoda Enyaq iV will be brought to India via the CBU route.

Skoda Enyaq iV displayed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 is equipped with a single electric motor positioned on the rear axle. This electric motor is capable of producing a power output of 282 bhp. It is also equipped with an 82 kWh battery pack that can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 28 minutes. According to WLTP standards, the Enyaq offers a driving range of 565 km on a single charge.
