Citroen Basalt X India Launch: Citroen India is set to launch its new Basalt X coupe-SUV today, September 5. Like the C3 X, the Basalt X is expected to gain visual and feature upgrades. However, mechanical components are likely to be carried over unchanged. Bookings are already open and can be made for a token amount of Rs 11,000 either on the official website or at authorised dealerships.
Citroen Basalt X: Positioning, Rivals
Positioned as the new top-of-the-line variant in the lineup under the brand's '2.0' strategy, the Basalt X will feature the same Common Modular Architecture that underpins the C3 X. Being a coup-SUV, the Basalt X will directly rival the Tata Curvv, while also facing some competition from the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Victoris (new), and the Kia Seltos in the midsize SUV segment.
Citroen Basalt X: Visual and Feature Upgrades
Nothing much is expected on the outside, except some new finishes and an exclusive 'X' badging on the tailgate. We also expect a new black colour option, as spied during testing. In terms of features, upgrades are likely to focus mainly on in-cabin tech and comfort. Therefore, expect Citroen to bring a redesigned dashboard, refreshed AC vents, and two-toned black-and-tan upholstery. Tech and comfort features could include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, wireless charging, keyless entry, and an engine start-stop button.

Citroen Basalt X: Safety Equipment
Safety-wise, we expect the Basalt X to be as safe as the standard version, which got a 4-star safety rating from GNCAP. Expect it to offer six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ESP, TPMS, and hill hold assist.
Citroen Basalt X: Engine
Under the hood, the Basalt X is likely to continue with 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol and 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine options. Gearbox options could be manual and torque converter automatic, the same as the regular Basalt.
