EV Driving Tips During Winters: It’s starting to get chilly and the winter season is starting to settle in. Therefore, all EV enthusiasts must gear up for the upcoming winter season as it is necessary to ensure optimal performance of your electric car. The low temperatures during winters often create difficulties when it comes to the efficiency of the EV battery, reducing both energy output and power. Cold weather instigates an increase in internal battery resistance which results in limited power. However, if you regularly take care of your car these efficiency losses can be reduced. Here are some key things to keep in mind to maintain the well-being of your EV during the winter months.

Park Your EV In Covered Driveway
When you park your electric car in a driveway or on the street, it might seem more convenient but it's not good for your EV. It is ideal to park it in a garage, especially in cold weather. Keeping your car covered in the garage is essential as parking in a cold spot for a long time can cause problems with the battery.
Avoid Fast Charging
The lithium plating inside an EV battery is its biggest nemesis in the winter season. This becomes a major problem when the electric current is flowing fast. During winters, avoid fast charging your EV when the temperature is very cold outside. If you're planning to go on a long drive, charge your electric car using Level 1 charging throughout the night. This method has been proven to be helpful to enhance the performance of your battery.
Regularly Check Your EV’s Tyres
When the temperature takes a dip during the winter season, your tyre pressure also decreases automatically due to the lower temperature. It drops by one pound per square inch (PSI) for every ten-degree decrease. The colder it gets, the less air your tyres are capable of holding. To keep this in check, it is essential to regularly inspect your car’s tyre condition and make sure it is not wearing out unexpectedly.
