Flopped Cars In India: The Indian automobile industry has been growing on a tremendous scale and has now become the third largest car market in the world. Significant automobile giants have been entering the Indian automotive industry with hopes to find success. However, in one of the largest car markets in the world, many cars failed to garner a positive response from customers. Let’s take a look at some of the cars which were not able to find the success that they had hoped for.

Datsun Go 

Datsun Go was introduced in India in early 2014 as Nissan's re-entry into India's budget car segment. However, it failed to capture the customers' interest and was discontinued in the Indian market in 2020. Datsun Go was equipped with a 1.2-litre engine that was capable of producing a power output of 67 bhp and 104 Nm of torque. 

Mahindra Quanto 

Mahindra launched the Quanto mini-SUV in 2012 with the aim to attract customers who are looking for an affordable high-riding vehicle. However, due to its poor design, along with the implementation of BS6 emission norms and sluggish sales, this compact SUV had to be discontinued in 2020. It was powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that generated a power output of 100 bhp and 240 Nm of torque. 

Chevrolet Enjoy 

Chevrolet launched the Enjoy MPV in 2013 as a practical 7-seater passenger car. However, its unattractive boxy, van-like design failed to impress Indian buyers, leading to poor sales. Despite being available with both petrol and diesel engine options, the Enjoy was discontinued in 2016.

Nissan Terrano 

The Nissan Terrano was launched in India in 2013 and was basically a rebadged Renault Duster. Despite some differences in body panels, the Nissan Terrano did not bring anything new or exciting for the customers in terms of performance. It failed to resonate with the audience and was eventually discontinued.
