New Honda Civic Type R: The new generation of the Honda Civic Type R performance hatchback was recently spotted in India. The Japanese car manufacturer recently confirmed its plans to launch CBU car models in the country, and the sighting of the Civic Type R has stirred excitement among automobile enthusiasts. It is worth noting that the Honda WR-V RS was also spied in India recently. So the question remains to be asked is whether the Civic Type R will be launched in India? Let’s take a look.
Honda Civic Type R In India: Design
The new Honda Civic Type R gets a bonnet with a hood scoop. At the front, it gets a large set of LED rectangular headlamps, a blacked-out large grille, and a sporty bumper with scooped-out air vents. On the sides, it gets 19-inch alloy wheels and sculpted doors, which enhance the hatchback’s sporty appeal. On the rear, it gets a blacked-out diffuser, triple-exhaust setup, a fixed wing on the tailgate, and connecting LED taillights. A shark fin antenna on the roof is also visible.

Honda Civic Type R In India: Features
The sporty appeal of the Honda Civic Type R continues inside the cabin, which provides a cockpit-style driving experience. It gets red synthetic fibre upholstery, a red Honda logo on the steering wheel, Type R badging on the seats, and more. The Honda Civic Type R also gets a fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.2-inch touchscreen-based infotainment system, and more. A camera module on the front windshield is also visible, hinting at the performance hatchback having a Level 2 ADAS suite.

Honda Civic Type R In India: Performance & Engine
The Honda Civic Type R is powered by an upgraded version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine from its previous generation model. The power and torque output of the engine have not been revealed yet, but the brand has confirmed that it will be the most powerful VTEC turbo engine to date. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, and the performance SUV will continue with a Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) configuration.
Honda Civic Type R: Will It Come To India?
As informed earlier, the brand has recently announced that it will be bringing the premium CBU models in India from next year onwards. The sighting of the Civic Type R aligns with the brand’s announcement as well. However, the model spied in India had a red number plate, hinting that the car could be undergoing only some feasibility tests, or it could also be a private vehicle. The brand has also not yet shared any information about the Civic Type R to be launched in the country, and therefore, the Honda Civic Type R launch in India is still full of uncertainty.
