Driving at night is always preferred for long-distance rides or road trips because of lesser traffic congestion and better weather conditions. However, driving at night poses its own risks and threats because of lower visibility or the huge trucks that are always cruising during that time. Here are a few measures to ensure before you take your car out for a night drive.
–Keep Headlights Clear
Dirt and grime build up on headlights over time reducing their effectiveness. To fix this, simply clean the headlights with mild detergent and water.
-Avoid High Beam
Use high beams for better night visibility in isolated areas with no other vehicles around. When a car approaches, switch to low beams.
-Make Sure All Rear View Mirrors Are Clean
Clean rearview mirrors are crucial for monitoring approaching cars. Make sure the rearview mirrors are clean and spotless before you start driving.
-Maintain The Electric System Of The Car
Ensure your car's electrical system is in good condition to avoid unexpected issues while driving. Regularly inspect the battery, wiring, and alternator for faults.
-No Damaged Or Dirty Windshield
Regular cleaning of windshields and headlights is essential. Dirt that is accumulated over time can increase the intensity of glare from other cars, reducing visibility. Ensure they are clean and not damaged.
-Look Out For Intoxicated Drivers
Intoxicated or impaired drivers are often found on the road during the night. Be aware of approaching vehicles and their speed. If you come across one, maintain a safe distance from their vehicle.
-Watch Your Speed
Driving at a moderate speed during the night is advisable. Adhere to speed limits and keep a check on your speed according to the road conditions.
-Be Well Rested
Being well-rested is essential to be alert while driving at night. Night-time can induce drowsiness, so avoid driving if you're tired. If you’re tired, find a safe spot to rest before continuing your journey.
