The automotive industry is undergoing some drastic changes including the reduction in diesel-powered engines and the increase in electric vehicles. The reduction in diesel engine cars has also prompted manufacturers to produce turbocharged petrol engines, generating more power and providing better fuel efficiency without increasing the size of the engine. They also churn out more horsepower in comparison to a normal engine while being a small and compact unit. Additionally, they are also known to be more fuel efficient in comparison to larger engines. Here’s a list of cars available in India with turbocharged petrol engine options under Rs 15 lakh.
Hyundai i20 N Line
The i20 N Line is a premium hatchback offered by Hyundai that is available with prices ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12.47 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hyundai i20 N Line is equipped with a 1.0-litre turbocharged GDI petrol engine that generates a power output of 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque.
Hyundai Venue N Line
The Hyundai Venue N Line prices start at Rs 12.08 lakh and go up to Rs 13.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The Venue N Line derives its power from the same turbocharged petrol engine that is fitted in the i20 N Line and also delivers the same performance specs as the 1.0-litre GDI petrol engine in the i20 N Line.
Kia Sonet
The South Korean automaker offers the Kia Sonet as a subcompact SUV in the India market. Prices for the Kia Sonet range between Rs 7.79 lakh and Rs 13.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The turbocharged engine available with the Kia Sonet is a 1.0-litre turbocharged GDI petrol engine that is capable of producing a power output of 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque which is the same as the i20 N Line and the Venue N Line.
Renault Kiger
Renault Kiger is also a subcompact SUV which is based on the hatchback, Renault Kwid. The Renault Kiger is available at prices starting from Rs 6.50 lakh with the top model available at a price of Rs 11.23 lakh (ex-showroom). The turbocharged engine available with the Renault Kiger is a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is tuned to produce between 71 bhp to 98 bhp of power and 96 Nm to 160 Nm of torque.
Nissan Magnite
Nissan only sells the Magnite in India as a compact SUV with prices starting from Rs 6 lakh that go up to Rs 10 lakh for the top-spec variant. The Nissan Magnite is available with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out a power output of 99 bhp and 160 Nm of torque.
