Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki has unveiled two new models at the ongoing EICMA 2023 in Milan, Italy. The two new models are the Kawasaki Ninja 500 and the Kawasaki Z500. Kawasaki has revealed that both these models will be equipped with the same liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, however, specific information about this engine hasn’t been revealed yet.

Kawasaki Ninja 500 and Kawasaki Z500 - Engine and Performance

Kawasaki is referring to the Ninja 500 and the Z500 as ‘500cc models’ as they will be powered by the same 451cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that has also been used in the Kawasaki Eliminator 500. This engine is tuned to generate a power output of 45.4 bhp at 9000 rpm and 42.6Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. This engine is offered with a slip-and-assist clutch. Kawasaki has also claimed that this engine offers better torque spread than the Kawasaki Ninja 400. 

Both these Kawasaki motorcycles, the Ninja 500 and the Z500 are built on a Kawasaki-specific trellis frame. Additionally, Kawasaki claims that the bikes are designed to provide easy and comfortable handling, with a seat height that's suitable for beginners. Additionally, both bikes meet the A2 compliance standards in Europe.

Kawasaki Ninja 500 and Kawasaki Z500 - Features 

Talking about the features of the Kawasaki Ninja 500 and the Kawasaki Z500, they boast standard LCD displays. The top-spec SE variants of both the motorcycles feature a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, USB-C charging port and keyless ignition. 

Kawasaki Ninja 500 and Kawasaki Z500 - Design 

In terms of design, the Z 500 features a distinctive front fascia with a unique setup for the LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). Its tank shrouds, fuel tank design and rear end are also distinct in comparison to the Ninja 500. The design of the Ninja 500 is along the same lines of the overall Ninja series and resembles the Ninja ZX-6R.

Kawasaki Ninja 500 and Kawasaki Z500 - India launch 

Kawasaki offers most of its global lineup in India so it is fair to assume that the Ninja 500 and the Z500 will also be made available in India sometime in 2024, phasing out the Kawasaki Ninja 400, which is currently sold in the country.
