Kia, a subsidiary of Hyundai Motors has revealed that it has incorporated more than 1000 EV, as part of their K-Charge initiative. These EV stations can be utilized by not just Kia EV owners but other electric vehicle users as well across India through the 'MyKia' mobile application. Under the K-Charge initiative, Kia has partnered with five Charge Point Operators (CPOs): Statiq, Charge Zone, Relux Electric, Lion Charge and E-Fill to improve the electric vehicle infrastructure in India. Additionally, in an exclusive arrangement with Relux Electric, Kia customers can now avail three months of complimentary charging services.

Kia's current electric vehicle offering in India is the Kia EV6 that is priced between Rs 60.95 lakh and Rs 65.95 lakh (ex-showroom). This initiative to integrate over 1000 EV charging stations via the 'MyKia' mobile application not only broadens the charging network for Kia EV6 owners but extends this facility to other electric vehicle users that use the 'MyKia' app. Using the ‘MyKia’ app, users can efficiently locate charging stations, check availability and make payments conveniently through the app.

Expressing its future plans, Kia aims to achieve an annual sales target of one million EVs by 2026 with plans to further expand to 1.6 million units by 2030. This strategic roadmap includes the introduction of various long-range Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and the unveiling of a locally manufactured EV in the Recreational Vehicle (RV) body style by the year 2030.

Talking about the K-Charge initiative, Hardeep Singh Brar, National Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India said, “K-Charge is not just a convenience initiative for our customers but a step towards making sustainable mobility convenient and accessible for everyone. We are confident that seamless, user-friendly solutions like these will play a pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in India.”
