Kia EV6 Spied: South Korean automaker Kia is gearing up to significantly update its EV6 electric compact crossover. These speculations are being triggered by a camouflaged prototype of the Kia EV6 recently seen undergoing cold-weather testing in northern Sweden. The prototype is for an updated version of the standard EV6, while a prototype for an updated EV6 GT performance model has been previously spotted testing.

Kia India launched the EV6 electric compact crossover in the country in May 2022. Following Kia's typical timeline, the updated models are expected to officially hit the Indian roads in 2025 and will possibly make their debut later this year. An updated version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has already been revealed and is also anticipated to arrive in India in 2025.
The camouflaged EV6 prototype hints at a new front end with redesigned headlights that seem to sit lower than the current EV6 model's lights. While specific mechanical changes are not yet clear, it's likely that there will be a switch from the current 77.4-kWh battery to an 84-kWh unit, similar to the update seen in the refreshed Ioniq 5.
In terms of performance, the current Kia EV6 is built on Hyundai Motor Group's versatile E-GMP platform and it offers an estimated range of up to 500 km according to the EPA. The EV6 GT, on the other hand, offers a range of 350 km while offering a power output of 576 bhp from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. This allows the EV6 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h.

In addition to the EV6 updates, Kia has been testing other electric models including an EV3 subcompact crossover and an EV9 GT high-performance midsize SUV. These developments are part of Kia's broader strategy to have 14 EVs in its lineup by the end of 2027.
