Mahindra is in the phase of redefining itself, and a brand-new stylesheet is a part of that. Its future electric vehicle ranges, BE and XUV.e, have already shown us the way, and now the Thar is moving in a completely new direction. It is obvious that the Thar.e concept completely eliminates the older CJ-related design elements and differs significantly from its ICE ancestors. Because it is a born electric vehicle, there is no need for a ladder-frame chassis, and Mahindra has chosen the five-door model.
The Thar.e concept claims to have good ground clearance and wheel travel because of its elevated Baja-type suspension. It has the appearance of a competent off-roader because of its upright shape, boxy size, and particularly its squared-off fenders.
Mahindra Thar.e Appearance
The Thar's new front end features two headlamp units that are quartered and square, a grille that is rectangular, three LED "slat" elements on one side, and a large, bulky front bumper to finish the look. The Land Rover and the first Land Cruisers both had similar design elements.

To make the design appear more small, its rear end has been blacked out. Additionally, the wide tack is visible with the wheels outside the main body line.
The Thar.e concept's interior features a flat dashboard with grab handles at either end. A flat three-spoke steering wheel, a touchscreen in the centre, and a prominent central tunnel assist to complete the simple but sturdy design.
Mahindra Thar.e : Power, Performance and Price
The Thar EV will be built on a modified version of Mahindra's new INGLO dedicated EV platform, also known as the P1. The INGLO (INdia GLObal) platform uses what is known as a skateboard platform, with a flat battery slung between the wheels. INGLO has also been accommodated by five other brand-new electric SUVs.
Mahindra will initially acquire its INGLO batteries and motor from BYD for its models like the XUV.e8, but the Thar.e is expected to make use of more powerful motors produced from Volkswagen.

The 60kWh battery will be standard with other INGLO SUVs, with that capacity being the most likely. Expect roughly 325 km range from the smaller battery pack based on Mahindra's claim that the larger 80kWh battery should deliver a driving range of about 435 to 450 km under the WLTP cycle.
You shouldn't anticipate the production version of the Thar.e to make its way to showrooms any time soon because Mahindra's launch calendar has been lined up till October 2026, when the BE.07 is scheduled to launch. Additionally, it won't be cheap, expect a starting price of around Rs 18 lakh-20 lakh easily.
