Maruti Suzuki Price Hike News: Maruti Suzuki, a leading automobile manufacturer in India, has announced a price hike for its popular models in India. Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Swift and some variants of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara have been increased. The price increase is attributed to the rise in commodity prices, resulting in the manufacturer adjusting its prices of Swift and Grand Vitara models.
This increase in price of these two Maruti Suzuki models will be effective from today. The Maruti Suzuki Swift will see an increase of up to Rs 25,000, while the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Sigma variant will be Rs 19,000 more expensive. Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki had already hinted at a price hike across its lineup due to increased cost inputs driven by inflation and rising commodity prices. The company stated that while it strives to keep costs minimal, some of the price increases may need to be passed on to consumers.
Moreover, to meet the increasing demand of Maruti Suzuki cars in the country, the manufacturer recently added a new assembly line at its Manesar plant in Haryana. This new line has a capacity of producing 1 lakh units per annum, significantly supporting the overall manufacturing capability at the Manesar facility to 9 lakh vehicles annually. Maruti Suzuki operates three manufacturing plants in India, with capacities of 7 lakh units per annum at its Gurugram plant in Haryana and 7.5 lakh units per annum at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. The company's strategic expansion and increased production capabilities are aimed at meeting the growing demand for its vehicles in the domestic and international markets.
Despite the price hike announcement, Maruti Suzuki continues to maintain a strong sales performance. In March, the company achieved a total sales figure of 187,196 units, including both domestic and international markets. Domestic sales alone reached 156,330 units, marking a notable 14 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki exported 25,892 units and sold 4,974 units to other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
