FASTag Annual Pass: Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, announced a FASTag-based Annual pass on June 18, 2025. The minister also informed that the pass is exclusively designed for non-commercial private vehicles. Here we are sharing all the available information about the charges, usage, and validity of the pass.
FASTag Annual Pass: Charges And Validity
The FASTag annual pass has been introduced with a price of Rs 3000, and it will be effective from August 15, 2025. The pass will remain valid for one year from the date of activation or for 200 trips, whichever happens earlier. Union Minister also informed via his X post that a dedicated link for activation and renewal will be made available soon, on the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of NHAI and MORTH.

FASTag Annual Pass: Usage And Need
Nitin Gadkari, in his X post, shared that the FASTag-based Annual Pass can be used for seamless and cost-effective travel across national highways in India. Gadkari also addressed the requirement of an Annual pass, and stated in his post ‘This policy addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas located within a 60 km range and simplifies toll payments through a single, affordable transaction. By reducing wait times, easing congestion, and minimizing disputes at toll plazas, the Annual Pass aims to deliver a faster and smoother travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners.’

FASTag Annual Pass: Confusion And Existing Users
Existing FASTag users and vehicle owners are not required to make changes to their accounts. They can shift to the new policy with their existing accounts. However, there is some confusion regarding the new policy. As per Gadkari’s X post, the annual pass will cover 200 trips, but what a trip would mean has not been clarified yet, and a detailed notification clarifying what the annual pass entails is awaited.
