The Pune Traffic Police has established a helpline at the Deputy Commissioner Traffic Branch Office in Yerwada, Pune, as part of efforts to reduce traffic violations in the city and encourage offenders to settle their outstanding traffic fines. Notably, between August 28 and September 6, 2023, 5,877 drivers paid their fine amounts.

Here's what you should know about the Pune Lok Adalat 2023:

1. The District Legal Services Authority has set up 19 desks for 9 Judicial Magistrates and their associates to expedite case disposal.

2. Discounts on fines can be availed through the Pune District Legal Service Authority and Hon'ble Magistrate during the Lok Adalat.

3. It is recommended that individuals with pending challans visit the National Lok Adalat to benefit from discounted rates.

4. The Lok Adalat will not operate on any token system, prioritising first-come, first-served citizens for immediate case resolution.

The National Legal Services Authority issued a statement in which it denied rumours about online token generation for traffic challan disposal. "There is no facility of token generation for traffic challans or any other case on the NALSA Website (www.nalsa.gov.in)," the notice states.

The alert stated that "misguided information" was being circulated by "social media influencers" in video, reels, and shorts and encouraged the public not to heed these claims. "Please note that NALSA does not circulate/issue such kind of link/videos for disposal of traffic challans, etc," the notification read.
