Skoda Octavia RS India Launch: Czech brand Skoda has confirmed the launch of the new Octavia RS performance sedan in early November in India. Having discontinued the fourth-generation Octavia in April 2023, Skoda will relaunch its sedan in the country, albeit in a sporty RS form. However, the upcoming Octavia RS will be sold as a completely built unit (CBU) in India, unlike the erstwhile locally assembled Skoda Octavia. Here's what to expect:

Skoda Octavia RS: Price

Being a fully imported model, the Skoda Octavia RS will be a premium sedan, expected to be priced around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). For context, the last listed ex-showroom price of the locally assembled Octavia ranged between Rs 27 lakh and Rs 31 lakh.

Skoda Octavia RS: Engine, Top Speed

In the international market, the Skoda Octavia RS has a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol, E888 engine, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The setup makes 261bhp and 370Nm of peak torque, thanks to revisions to the crankshaft as well as new piston skirts.

According to Skoda, the Octavia RS can accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h in 6.6 seconds. It delivers a top speed of over 250km/h. We expect the same powertrain setup to be carried over to the India-spec Octavia RS.

Skoda Octavia RS: Design, Features

For the Indian market, the upcoming Octavia RS will be the facelifted version of the fourth-generation Octavia, although in an RS guise. Design-wise, the front fascia of the performance sedan will feature a sharper bumper, headlamps, and daytime running lamps. The honeycomb grille will be blacked out and wear the RS badging. There will also be aero alloy wheels, a new boot-lip spoiler, and a twin exhaust pipe setup. The rear fascia will also feature sharper lighting elements.

The interior will, too, get RS-specific changes with sports seats (with contrast stitching), aluminium pedals, and RS badging. A new 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an integrated engine start/stop function, along with an HVAC panel, a three-spoke steering wheel, and a phone holder, will also be available.
