Tata Altroz CNG Powertrain and Fuel Efficiency
A 1.2 litre engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission powers the Altroz CNG. It produces 88 hp and 115 Nm of torque in petrol mode, compared to 77 hp and 103 Nm in CNG mode. Its immediate competitors, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG, produce a similar 77 horsepower but only 98.5 Nm of torque while operating on CNG.
The Tata Altroz CNG is advertised to have a fuel efficiency of 26.2 km/kg (ARAI). The Baleno CNG and Glanza CNG, claim to have a substantially superior fuel efficiency of 30.61 km/kg. However, actual efficiency may differ from their claimed levels.
Tata Altroz CNG: More Details
With the Altroz, Tata Motors launched their innovative dual-cylinder CNG tank setup. It’s the first CNG-powered hatchback with a sunroof. Due to the unusual configuration, the Altroz still has a usable 210-litre boot. Although that's 135 litres less than the 345-litre boot of the conventional Altroz. Additionally, the Altroz may start in CNG mode immediately, unlike its competitors. Six variants of the Tata Altroz CNG currently offered are: XE, XM+, XM+ (S), XZ, XZ+ (S), and XZ+ O (S).
