The Indian automotive industry is noticing a heavy surge in the adoption of EVs in the country. EVs have gradually become a reliable and cost-effective alternative to conventional ICE cars. Indian automobile giants like Tata and Mahindra have been launching EVs to establish themselves as key players in the sector. Tata Motors recently launched the facelift of their flagship EV, the new Nexon.ev. The Nexon.ev has created a lot of buzz in the EV sector and is set to compete with the likes of Mahindra XUV 400, MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. We have already covered a detailed comparison of the Nexon.ev with the Mahindra XUV 400 and the MG ZS EV. Now, let’s draw a comparison between the Hyundai Kona Electric and the Tata Nexon.ev.

Hyundai Kona Electric
Performance - Hyundai’s Kona Electric is available with two battery options; a 48.4 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 342 km on a single charge and a 65.4 kWH battery pack that can drive up to 490 km after being fully charged.
Features - In terms of features, the Kona Electric gets an array of features like a 12.3 inch panoramic display, 12 inch head-up-display, steering mounted controls, surround-view monitor, Bose premium sound system, over-the-air software update functionality, 4 driving modes, cruise control, automatic climate control and sunroof along with a host of safety features.
Prices - The Hyundai Kona Electric prices range from Rs 23.84 lakh to Rs 24.03 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Nexon.ev
Performance - The Nexon.ev comes in two variants, each with different battery options. The Medium Range (MR) variant has a 30.5 kWh battery pack, while the Long Range (LR) variant features a 40.5 kWh battery. These models are expected to provide driving ranges of 325 km and 465 km, respectively.
Features - The Nexon EV offers an array of premium features that include a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats with height adjustment, wireless charging, automatic climate control, a 9-speaker JBL audio system, a voice-operated electric sunroof, cruise control, a 2-spoke steering wheel, a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen display, an SOS call button, an air purifier and a blind-view monitor.
Prices - Tata Nexon.ev prices range from Rs 14.74 lakh to Rs 19.94 lakh (ex-showroom).
In conclusion, both the EVs offer good performance along with a host of technological and safety features. The only major distinguishing factor in both the EVs is their prices. The Nexon.ev is way more affordable than the Kona Electric while offering similar powertrain figures and features.
