Indian car manufacturers have been shifting from conventional ICE engines to the new electric motor engine technology. Apart from India, EVs are the most buzzing and the most rising trend in the automotive industry across the globe. Considered the flag bearer of EV technology in India, Mahindra and Tata have introduced several electric motor cars that have prompted the Indians to shift towards electric cars.

Recently, Tata Motors launched the facelift version of the Nexon.ev, which took the Indian automotive industry by storm given the features, design and technology used in the compact SUV. The Tata Nexon.ev is considered the top rival of Mahindra XUV400, the electric version of XUV400 launched by Mahindra earlier this year. Both these cars are compact SUVs with a wide range of features, powerful drivetrains and varying prices. Here's a comparison of Tata Nexon.ev and Mahindra XUV400.

Tata Nexon.ev

Performance - The Nexon.ev will be available in two variants which will be equipped with two battery options; Medium Range(MR) with a 30.5 kWh battery pack and the Long Range (LR) with a 40.5 kWh battery. It is claimed that both of these variants will offer a driving range of 325 km and 465 km respectively.

Features - The Nexon.ev is available with some top-of-the-line features like a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats with height adjustment, wireless charging, automatic climate control, a 9-speaker JBL audio system, a voice-operated electric sunroof, cruise control, front parking sensors, a 2-spoke steering wheel, a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, an SOS call button, an air purifier, Type-C ports, and a blind-view monitor.

Price - Tata Nexon.ev prices range from Rs 14.74 lakh to Rs 19.94 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra XUV400

Performance - The XUV400 is also available with two different battery configurations; a 34.5 kWh and a 39.4 kWh. Noticeably, the 34.5 kWh battery pack will deliver a claimed range of 375 km and the 39.4 kWh battery pack will deliver a range of 456 km after being charged fully.

Features - In terms of features, the XUV400 gets an electric sunroof, adjustable ORVMs, LED DRLs and tail lights, multi-function steering wheel, start/stop button, keyless entry, rear-cup holders, USB charging port, height adjustable driver seat, powered and adjustable steering, powered windows, a 7-inch touchscreen and 3 drive mode options.

Price - Mahindra XUV400 is available in two trims; EC and EL. The prices for the XUV400 EC start at Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom) and the prices for the XUV400 EL start at Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Nexon.ev vs Mahindra XUV400 - Who wins?

After going through the details about both these cars, the Nexon.ev’s base model starts at a lesser price than the XUV400 and the top-spec variant of the Nexon.ev gets more premium features making it stand out in its segment.
