Japanese automaker Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced a voluntary recall for 2,305 units of the Glanza hatchback in India. These specific Glanza models were manufactured between April 2 and October 6, 2019. The recall is due to a problem with the fuel pump motor. This action follows a previous recall conducted on July 31, 2020, for the same reason. Toyota India will contact the owners of the affected vehicles and conduct necessary repairs as part of the recall campaign with no cost attributed to the owners of the vehicle.

Additionally, recently Maruti Suzuki recalled 16,000 units of the Baleno for a similar issue. The Baleno and Glanza are closely related as they share the same underpinnings and are essentially re-badged counterparts of the same model. These models are manufactured by Suzuki and sold under different brands. Toyota has identified a potential problem with the fuel pump motor in the affected vehicles, which could result in engine stalling.

The Toyota Glanza hatchback is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine is capable of delivering a power output of 89 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. It is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT unit. Additionally, Toyota offers a CNG variant of the Glanza, making it the most budget-friendly CNG model in the country. The Toyota Glanza hatchback is available in India at a starting price of Rs 6.86 lakh (ex-showroom).
