Bihar Voter List: With just eight days remaining, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is racing against time to complete Bihar’s revised voter list. Out of the state’s 7.90 crore registered electors, 7.08 crore have already submitted their enumeration forms roughly 90 percent participation according to data released by the Commission on Thursday. Despite the encouraging numbers, the EC still needs about 46 lakh more forms to meet its target ahead of the August 1 draft list publication.

The ECI stated, “As of today, 89.7 percent of the existing electors have given their enumeration form to be included in the draft Electoral-Roll to be published on August 1. Any elector can also check the status of their enumeration form either on ECINet App or on https://voters.eci.gov.in or https://voters.eci.gov.in. The Enumeration Forms can also be filled online in Hindi on the same link.”

The massive exercise is part of a special revision effort by the EC to ensure a clean and updated voter list ahead of the anticipated Bihar Assembly elections. The current legislative term is scheduled to end in November.

Political Parties to Re-Verify Missing Voters

Earlier this week, News18 reported that around 35.69 lakh voters may be removed from the existing rolls, having been marked as missing from their registered addresses. This group reportedly includes 12.55 lakh deceased voters, 17.37 lakh who have permanently shifted, and 5.76 lakh with duplicate registrations.

With the figure unchanged since the report, the EC is now involving political parties directly in the verification process. BLOs (Booth Level Officers) have already made three rounds of checks. To further verify these electors, the Commission is enabling cross-verification by political representatives.

“… the information on electors who are probably deceased, permanently shifted or have enrolled at multiple places is being shared with District Presidents of political parties and the 1.5 lakh Booth Level Agents appointed by them so that exact status of such electors can be confirmed by them before July 25," the ECI added.

Voters Can Submit Forms Online: ECI

The EC has also reached out to voters temporarily residing outside Bihar. It emphasized that enumeration forms can still be filled and submitted digitally through the ECINet App or via the official voter portal https://voters.eci.gov.in  or https://voters.eci.gov.in . Voters have the option to download and fill the forms, then send them to BLOs through family members or even via WhatsApp and other platforms.

All voters who submit their forms by the July 25 deadline will be included in the draft list. Supporting documents for eligibility can be submitted separately during the claims and objections period, which runs until September 1. The final electoral roll is expected to be published by September 30.
