Bihar: A 25-year-old man, Priyanshu, was allegedly killed by his wife, Gunjan Devi, just 45 days after their marriage in Bihar's Aurangabad district. Police have arrested the accused, including Priyanshu's wife Gunjan Devi, in connection with the murder case. Among those arrested are Jaishankar Choubey, son of Mahendra Choubey, and Mukesh Sharma, son of Ramashish Sharma, both residents of Ramabandh Dhurua in the Kandi police station area of Jharkhand’s Garhwa district.

According to the police, newlywed Gunjan Devi, in her 20s, allegedly conspired with her uncle and lover, 55-year-old Jeevan Singh, to hire shooters and murder her husband, Priyanshu. Devi and the two shooters have been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace Singh.
Gunja Devi had been in a long-term relationship with her maternal uncle, Jeevan Singh, for nearly fifteen years before her marriage. However, their families opposed the relationship and forcibly married Gunja to Priyanshu, a resident of Barwan village under the Nabinagar police station, just two months ago. Unhappy with the marriage, Gunja, along with her uncle, allegedly conspired to eliminate her husband.
According to the police, Gunja remained in constant contact with Jeevan Singh over the phone. On the evening of June 24th, when Priyanshu was returning home from Banaras, Gunja informed her uncle about his movements. Acting on this information, Jeevan Singh contacted a shooter and arranged the murder.
As per the investigation, the shooter ambushed Priyanshu near Lembokhap village while he was returning from the Nabinagar Road Railway Station and shot him dead. Jaishankar Choubey and Mukesh Sharma, who supplied a mobile SIM to the shooter, have also been arrested.
"On June 25, Priyanshu was returning home by train after visiting his sister and had reached Navi Nagar station when he told Devi to send someone on a bike to pick him up," Superintendent of Police (SP) Amrish Rahul said.
"On his way from the station to his house, he was shot dead by two people," he added.
Following the murder, an FIR was lodged and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under Sadar SDPO Sanjay Kumar Pandey to crack the case. Based on CCTV footage, surveillance, technical inputs, and human intelligence, the SIT arrested Gunja Devi and two other accused.
"A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to probe the murder. The murder took place 45 days after Priyanshu and Devi's wedding. Three people, including Devi, have been arrested. Efforts are on to arrest Singh," the SP said.

Further investigations revealed that Jeevan Singh, a prominent businessman from Daltonganj who operates passenger buses and trucks, was in direct contact with the shooters. Gunja’s suspicious attempt to flee the village after the murder raised further alarms among Priyanshu’s family members.
Investigation is ongoing to arrest Jeevan Singh and the shooter involved in the crime.
