JDU MLA Gopal Mandal caused a stir when he showed up at Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital in Bihar’s Bhagalpur on Tuesday evening with a revolver in his hand. The legislator who is known for his controversial statements and actions said that he visited the hospital with his granddaughter for a CT scan and he carried a revolver for his self-defence as he faces threats from his political opponents who do not want him to become an MP.

He also stated that he would not hesitate to shoot anyone who tries to harm him or his family. He claimed that his voters love his elegant style and that he is confident of becoming an MP soon with the support of people in his constituency.

This is not the first time that Gopal Mandal has been in the limelight for his antics. He once threatened to shoot a doctor with an AK-47 for delaying the treatment of a patient from Gopalpur and another time he warned to throw a DSP in the Ganga River for brutally beating up a youth from his area. He was in the news recently for roaming in underwear and having an argument with a co-passenger in Tejas Rajdhani Express.
