The Bihar government has announced the opening of 28 new fire stations across the state, with a total sanction of Rs 341 crore. Of this, Rs 84.31 crore has already been released. The funds will also be used to strengthen existing fire stations and procure modern firefighting equipment.
According to the Home Department, new fire stations will be established in Barh, Fatuha, Masaurhi, Sipara, Phulwarisharif, and Danapur in Patna. Additionally, one station each will be set up in Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Supaul, Muzaffarpur, Khagaria, Gaya, Madhubani, Buxar, Purnia, Bhojpur, Vaishali, and Rohtas. Each fire station is estimated to cost around Rs 3.65 crore.

The department has also announced the purchase of advanced firefighting equipment, including a 32-metre turntable ladder at Rs 10 crore, a 42-metre hydraulic platform cum turntable aerial at Rs 7.5 crore, a 32-metre hydraulic platform cum turntable aerial at Rs 6.5 crore, as well as one hazmat van and one emergency rescue tender, each costing Rs 2.5 crore. Other planned acquisitions include personal protective equipment, water and foam tender vehicles, firefighting drones, firefighting robots, and surveillance drones.
To strengthen firefighting capacity, the state government has created 2,075 additional posts in the junior service cadre.

-Muzaffarpur: Bela, Motipur
-Bhagalpur: Kahalgaon, Mujahidpur
-Begusarai: Manjhaul, Bakhri, Teghra
-Saharsa: Sonbarsa, Simri Bakhtiyarpur
-Supaul: Supaul, Triveniganj, Birpur
The government aims to enhance fire safety and emergency response across Bihar through these expansions and modernisations.
