The students, in thousands of numbers, hit the streets of Bihar's Patna to protest against the delay in the STET exam. The protesting students have been waiting for the examination date for several months, but there has been no announcement.
The agitated protestors alleged that, despite repeated assurances, no concrete steps have been taken by the government. The candidates have alleged that an attempt not to conduct the STET exam before the TRE-4, a teaching position exam, is a betrayal to the students.
With the protests, candidates have once again demanded that the government conduct STET, BTET and Librarian exams, and that too before the TRE-4 exams. The procession started from Patna College to reach JP Golambar, Gandhi Maidan. The aspirants hurled slogans against the government and in favour of their demands.
At JP Golambar, the police tried to stop the protestors, but the latter prevailed and reached the Dak Bungalow crossing. The protestors blocked the road and demanded to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and announce the exam dates.

The police have stopped the protestors from going beyond the Dak Bungalow. It is the second time in 15 days that the aspirants have came to the road to protest delays. The police and administration have also become fully alert. Earlier on August 7, when the candidates were trying to march towards the Chief Minister's residence, they were stopped at JP Golambhar.
The police had also resorted to lathi charge after they tried to break the barricades there. To prevent such a situation from recurring this time, a large number of police forces have been deployed at Dak Bungalow Chauraha and the surrounding areas.
According to a report by Live Hindustan, the state government has announced to hold the next TRE and STET examinations in 2026. The aspirants have protested the decision as the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has not held the STET exam for almost one and a half years, when it is suppose to conduct it twice a year.
In Bihar, the STET qualification is mandatory for appearing for the TRE-4. And that's why the aspirants are demanding to hold STET before TRE-4.
