Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: As the race for the Bihar Assembly elections heats up, Congress on Saturday released its second list of candidates, adding five more names to the 48 announced in the first list of candidates.

In the second list for the Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress has announced candidates for five constituencies, including Narkatiaganj, Kishanganj, Kasba, Purnia, and Gaya Town.

Shaswat Kedar Pandey has been fielded from Narkatiaganj, while Qamrul Hoda will contest from Kishanganj. Irfan Alam has been named the candidate from Kasba, Jitender Yadav from Purnia, and Mohan Shrivastava from Gaya Town.

The Mahagathbandhan was unable to finalise the seat-sharing agreement for the first phase of the Bihar elections, with the nomination deadline ending on Friday. The deadline to file nominations for the first phase of the Bihar elections was October 17, Friday, while for the second phase, it is October 20.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), a part of the INDIA Bloc, on Saturday announced that it will contest the Bihar Elections independently instead of joining the Mahagathbandhan. JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya stated that the party will contest six seats independently.

The Bihar Assembly Elections for all 243 constituencies will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the vote-counting scheduled for November 14.

Congress First List Of 48 Candidates

Earlier on Thursday, Congress released its first list of 48 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections. The party fielded state unit chief Rajesh Ram from the Kutumba seat. The list also included CLP leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan, who will contest from Kadwa. Other candidates in the list include: Bihar Youth Congress chief Prakash Garib Das from Bachhwada, Jayesh Mangal Singh from Bagaha, Amit Giri from Nautan, and Abhishek Ranjan from Chanpatia.

The party announced its list of candidates for the upcoming elections before finalising the seat-sharing arrangement with Mahagathbandhan allies, including the RJD.
