As the nomination process for the first phase is completed, political parties are now focused on campaigning in the Bihar Assembly elections. In line with that, the BJP has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will blow the bugle on October 24 from Samastipur.
Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal said that 10 public meetings by the Prime Minister are planned by the party and the locations have been identified for the same.
The locations have been sent to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah will hold approximately 25 public meetings, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and other top leaders will hold approximately the same number of rallies.
Jaiswal said, "The Prime Minister's proposed visit to Bihar is on October 24. He will address public meetings at two places in Bihar. His election campaign will begin on October 24 in Samastipur. From there, he will travel to Begusarai and address a public meeting there. His second proposed visit is on October 29, information about which will be announced later."
He added that the PM wanted to visit Bihar during Chhath, but because of security reasons and to avoid inconvenience to common people, no event has been planned around the festival.
According to reports, PM Modi is likley to hold poll campaign events in Patna, Gaya and Darbhanga, among other places.
As part of the NDA, BJP and JDU are contesting 101 seats each in these elections, marking the first time in their coalition history that Nitish Kumar-led party not fighting more seats than the saffron party.
Among other allies, Chirag Paswan's LJP (RV) is contesting 29 seats while Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM and Upendra Kushwaha's RLM are contesting 6 seats each.
The Election Commission has announced to conduct the elections for 243-member Bihar Assembly in two phases. The polling in 121 constituencies in the first phase will take place on November 6 and in remaining 122 seats will be held on November 11.
