Bihar News: The Bihar government has decided to sign an agreement with the Airports Authority of India to approve operations from six small airports in six cities of Bihar. This is a major step taken by the state government to expand air services in Bihar. The Nitish Kumar-led government has also decided to build a star hotel in place of Hotel Patliputra Ashok.

The Bihar Cabinet meeting held today, on June 17, was headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The government approved 20 proposals in the meeting. Major decisions were also taken on infrastructure development, agriculture, education, health and industry.

Airports To Be Developed

After the cabinet meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet, Dr S Siddharth, said that small airports will be developed in Madhubani, Veerpur, Munger, Valmiki Nagar, Muzaffarpur and Saharsa. An amount of Rs 25 crore has been allocated for each airport.

Five-star Hotel Approved

The state government has also approved the construction of a five-star hotel in place of Hotel Patliputra Ashok. The lease period of the five-star hotel will be 60 years, and later it will be extended to another 30 years.

Other Proposals Approved By The State Govt

The state government approved 20 proposals in the cabinet meeting. The state cabinet has fixed the minimum support price for gram, lentil and mustard. Under the minimum support price, it will be Rs 5,650 for gram, Rs 5,950 for mustard and Rs 6700 for lentil. Apart from this, the government has approved the Bihar State School Librarian Cadre Rules 2025 for the appointment of a school librarian in secondary and higher secondary schools of Bihar. The cabinet has also approved to extension of the tenure of 1,717 retired soldiers of the Indian Army.
