The Bihar government will set up new industrial areas in Begusarai, Siwan, Patna, Saharsa, and Madhepura, with over 2,627.83 acres of land to be acquired at a cost exceeding Rs 814 crore. The proposal was approved in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday, where a total of 30 decisions were cleared.
Additional Chief Secretary Dr S Siddharth said 991 acres will be acquired in Kusmauta Mauja, Begusarai (Rs 351 crore), 500 acres in Saidpur Mauja of Bakhtiyarpur, Patna (Rs 219 crore), 167.34 acres in Atwa Mauja, Siwan (Rs 113 crore), 420.62 acres in Balhar Arazi Mauja, Saharsa (Rs 88.01 crore), and 548.87 acres in Madhepura (Rs 41.26 crore). The new industrial hubs are expected to boost the state’s economy, expand industries, and create fresh employment opportunities.
The cabinet also approved the establishment of a textile mill in Guraru Industrial Area, Gaya, with a private investment of Rs 35.14 crore by M/s Ma Prabhavati Textile. The unit is expected to generate employment for 237 people. In Gopalganj, 6.94 acres of non-cultivated land will be permanently transferred to BIADA for industrial expansion for Rs 2.60 crore.
Approval was granted for acquiring 1,300 acres for the expansion of the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster at Dobhi, Gaya, under the Amritsar–Kolkata Industrial Corridor Project in 2025–26. The work will be carried out by the Infrastructure Development Authority at an estimated cost of Rs 416 crore.
An OLS (Obstacle Limitation Surface) survey will be conducted for new airports in Veerpur, Munger, Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Muzaffarpur, and Valmikinagar, with Rs 290 crore to be paid to the Airports Authority of India. Additionally, 18 acres of land will be acquired to expand the runway of Gaya Airport, where CAT-Eye lights will also be installed, for Rs 137.37 crore.
The cabinet approved doubling the Samman pension for those jailed during the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan-led movement under MISA and DIR. Prisoners who served one to six months will now receive Rs 15,000 per month (up from Rs 7,500), while those jailed for more than six months will get Rs 30,000 (up from Rs 15,000).
