Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, during his Pragati Yatra, announced the construction of power grid substations at ten locations across Bihar, with an estimated investment of Rs 1918 crore. The initiative aims to strengthen the state’s electricity infrastructure, with a target to complete all projects by the financial year 2026-27. The state cabinet has approved the proposal.
According to the power company, nine substations with a capacity of 132-33 kV will be constructed in nine districts, while one substation with a capacity of 220-132-33 kV will be developed in Siwan district.
A 132-33 kV grid substation will be constructed in Amuwaman, located in Majhaulia block of West Champaran district, at a cost of Rs 148.49 crore. In Sitamarhi’s Majorganj, a substation of similar capacity will be built at a cost of Rs 162.73 crore. Vaishali district’s Mahua block will see the construction of a 132-33 kV substation at a cost of Rs 157.01 crore.
The only 220-132-33 kV substation in the plan will be built in Mairwan, Siwan district, with an allocation of Rs 517.05 crore. Samastipur’s Warisnagar will get a 132-33 kV substation worth Rs 135 crore, while Madhepura’s Chausa will receive one costing Rs 132.72 crore. In Banka’s Amarpur, a substation of the same capacity will be set up at a cost of Rs 227.93 crore.
Two substations will be constructed in Lakhisarai district—one in Halsi at a cost of Rs 182.69 crore and another in Barhiya at Rs 63.40 crore. Nawada’s Roh block will have a 132-33 kV substation built at an estimated cost of Rs 191.26 crore.
These projects are expected to improve power supply and boost development across the respective regions.
