Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the Raghopur section of the Kachhi Dargah-Bidupur bridge on Monday. The Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) stated that the bridge will work as a link between north and south Bihar. The authority further stated that the six-lane bridge will provide significant convenience to the residents of several districts by cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion. The BSRDCL stated that while the total length of the bridge is 9.76 km, the construction work on the 4.57 km section from Patna to Raghopur has been completed.
While providing details, the BSRDCL stated that the construction work of this project is to be completed in three phases. It further informed that the first phase is from Kachhi Dargah (NH-31) to Raghopur Diara of Vaishali. The second phase is from Hajipur-Mahanar Path (NH-122B) to Chak Sikandar (NH 322), and the third phase is from Raghopur Diara to Hajipur-Mahanar Path. The BSRDCL further stated that the bridge starts from the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur four-lane bypass (NH-31) and ends at Chak Sikandar of Vaishali (NH-32).
The authority further stated that the total cost of this project is almost Rs 5,000 cr. While the government had spent Rs 696 crore on the land acquisition and resettlement, more than Rs 4,200 crore was spent on the construction of the project. The BSRDCL stated that the ambitious project is being constructed by Larson & Toubro and Daewoo, a Korean company, as a joint venture agency.
The project has been funded by the Asian Development Bank, and it will be the country's longest extradosed cable bridge. CM Nitish Kumar had laid the foundation stone of this bridge from the Convention Hall in Patna on August 23, 2015. He had emphasised that the bridge will significantly improve the regional connectivity of the state.
