Bihar Election 2025 Voting Phase 1: The voting for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 concluded at 6 pm on Thursday. For security reasons, polling in Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Mahishi, Tarapur, Munger, Jamalpur, and 56 polling booths of the Suryagarha Assembly segment ended at 5 pm. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI)'s latest data, 64.66 per cent provisional voter turnout has been recorded, which is a highest ever in the state. However, the final numbers are awaited.

Bihar Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vinod Gunjyal said the first phase of the assembly elections was concluded peacefully, with the state witnessing a voter turnout of approximately 64.66 per cent.

The voter turnout in the 2025 assembly elections remains the highest since the 2000 assembly elections, according to Election Commission data. The voting percentage in 2000 was 62.57 per cent.

Of the 45,341 polling booths in Bihar, the voter turnout of 64.66 per cent is based on data from 41,943 booths. The Bihar CEO said that the final data will be available in due course.

 

The ECI stated that the highest turnout of 70.96 per cent was recorded in the Muzaffarpur assembly constituency, while the lowest 57.93 per cent in the Patna seat.

143 Complaints Received During Voting

The Bihar Chief Electoral Officer said, "By the end of voting, 143 complaints were received. All were resolved on time. Furthermore, all complaints received directly by phone were resolved on time. Information about boycotts was also received at some polling stations, including polling station number 56 in the Brahmapur assembly constituency of Buxar district, polling stations number 165 and 166 in the Fatuha assembly constituency, and polling stations number 1, 2, and 5 in Suryagarha, near Lakhisarai. No untoward incidents have been reported in the first phase of voting that concluded today. Voting was conducted peacefully and smoothly."

A politically charged state, Bihar, is witnessing a better poll battle between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan. Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj has also fielded its candidates on all 243 assembly seats in the state, making the contest traingular.

Key Candidates In The First Phase

Mahagathbandhan's CM face Tejashwi Yadav, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Tej Pratap Yadav, Bhola Yadav, Mangal Pandey, Shravan Kumar, Khesari Lal Yadav, and Maithili Thakur are in the fray in the first phase of polling for the Bihar Assembly elections.

The first phase, voting was conducted for 121 constituencies spread across 18 districts. In the first phase, the electoral fate of a total of 1,314 candidates was locked in the EVMs.122 women candidates are in the fray, while one transgender candidate, Priti Kinnar, is contesting on a Jan Suraaj Party ticket from the Bhorey Assembly constituency in Gopalganj district.

The second phase of voting for 122 constituencies will take place on November 11, and the results will be declared on November 14.
