The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a press release announcing the final polling data of the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections. The final polling percentage stood at 65.08 per cent. The final data has been released after the scrutiny process for all constituencies that voted in the first phase was completed.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly Elections, the voter turnout was 57.29 per cent, while it stood at 56.28 per cent during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. This means voter participation in the 2025 Assembly Elections has risen by 7.79 per cent compared to the 2020 state elections and by 8.8 per cent compared to the 2024 general elections.

Bihar Elections 2025: Phase I

- In total, 83 candidates and 385 election agents participated in the final scrutiny process across all districts, bringing the total number to 468. 

- The polling has been done transparently and no polling station was found to require a re-poll.

- All EVMs used in Phase I have been sealed and stored in the respective assembly constituencies and secured under a three-tier security system under 24x7 CCTV surveillance.

- The other EVMs and VVPATs found defective during the mock poll have also been secured in an undisclosed location as per the direction of the ECI to prevent misuse of the same. 

- All contesting candidates have been informed in writing that they may appoint their representatives to monitor the security arrangements of the rooms where polled EVMs are kept. Additionally, they are permitted to remain outside the security perimeter. 

- A CCTV display of the Strong Room has also been made available to the candidates/representatives.

The ECI reported a significant participation by women, youth, senior citizens and voters with disabilities. Wheelchairs, ramps, easy access, and necessary assistance were provided for PwD voters. EVM-VVPAT operations were smooth and seamless throughout, with no disruptions to the machines' proper functioning at any polling station.
