Madan Sahni Background: Net Worth, Educational Qualification, Political Career

Madan Sahani, son of Late Vindeshwar Sahni, began his electoral journey from the grassroots level, serving first as a member of the Zila Parishad and later being elected as its District Board Chairman. In 2010, he widened his political aspirations and plunged into mainstream politics, winning from the newly created Bahadurpur constituency on a JD(U) ticket.

In the next Bihar Assembly election, he shifted his base to Gaura Bauram, where he defeated LJP’s Vinod Sahni by over 14,000 votes to win a second time on the trot. Sahni’s third win came from his old constituency of Bahadurpur, where he won in the 2020 Bihar Assembly Elections. Sahni is currently serving as the Social Welfare Minister of Bihar.

Coming to his educational qualifications, Sahni graduated from the Kunwar Singh College, which is affiliated to the Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga, in 1992. Sahni has a net worth of approximately Rs 3 crore, and liabilities worth Rs 75 lakh in the latest affidavit filed by him ahead of the polls.

Bahadurpur Assembly Constituency: Can RJD Breach Sahni’s Bastion?

A three‑time MLA, Madan Sahni is aiming for a third victory from the Bahadurpur Assembly constituency, having previously won in 2010 and 2020. However, this election could prove to be more challenging. In 2020, Sahni narrowly retained the seat, winning by just 2,629 votes, with 68,538 votes (38.50 per cent) against Ramesh Choudhary of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, who secured 65,909 votes (37.03 per cent).

Given the slim margin and a voter turnout of around 59.39 per cent in 2020, the upcoming contest is expected to be fiercely competitive. Recognising the massive stakes of an electoral win, the RJD has fielded its old guard Bhola Yadav, who had previously won the Bahadurpur seat in the 2015 Assembly elections, signaling a high‑octane battle ahead.
