Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami AvimukteshwaranandSaraswati has announced a foray into what he terms "Sanatani politics" in Bihar, declaring that candidates who are "gaubhakt" (cow devotees) will contest from all assembly constituencies in the upcoming state elections.
During an event, the Shankaracharya stated, "The protection of Sanatana Dharma is possible only when we protect Gau Mata (Mother Cow)." He emphasised that cow protection is not merely a matter of faith but is the very foundation of our society and culture. He urged all citizens to vote only for candidates who demonstrate a clear and resolute commitment to the cause of cow protection in the upcoming assembly elections.
Explaining the decision, the Shankaracharya said that he had approached the Delhi offices of all national political parties. "We asked them to present their stance in the Lok Sabha on declaring the cow as the Mother of the Nation ('Rashtra Mata' ) and to inform us of their position," he stated. "However, no political party has clarified its stance on the issue of Mother Cow. Therefore, out of compulsion, we are now forced to field cow devotee candidates in the Bihar assembly elections."
He announced that candidates will be put forward in every constituency. The names of those officially contesting on his behalf will be formally declared after the nomination process is complete. According to his National Media In-charge, Shailendra Yogiraj Sarkar, the program was held in a deeply spiritual and cultural atmosphere, and the Shankaracharya's message was received with devotion and enthusiasm by the attendees.
