Bihar Elections: Criticising the pre-poll promise of a job for every household, Home Minister Amit Shah launched a fury of attacks on Rashtriya Janata Dal’s leader Tejashwi Yadav. In his public address, Shah also attacked Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’.

“The RJD’s promise of government jobs to each family in Bihar is not feasible,” Shah said during his public address in Patna. “How does he plan to finance this ambitious scheme?” he added.

Shah differentiated his party’s electoral promise of an unemployment allowance from that promised by the RJD and his alliance. He added, "This is my pledge. This can be done. This is no jumlebaazi.”

Since the announcement was made, there have been multiple questions, with many pointing out that the state's pockets are not deep enough to support the scheme.

For Rahul Gandhi, Shah termed his padyatras as ‘save infiltrator yatras’ and said that the Leader of Opposition is willing to lead umpteen number of such public walks. He further said that the BJP is committed to stopping any illegal immigrant from coming to this country.

‘Jobs For Every Household’- RJD’s Big Pre-Poll Promise

Earlier, during his campaigning, RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav gave the assurance of a government job for every household if voted into power. "NDA government could not provide jobs to the youth in 20 years, but we will bring the Act within 20 days of coming to power and also ensure its implementation within 20 months," the RJD Chief said to media personnel at his resident.

In response to RJD’s promise, the JDU had ridiculed the promise as hollow and fake and asked how the party could provide more than 2.76 crore households with a job within 20 months. The party also attacked the party’s previous ‘land for job’ scheme, which robbed people of their rightful lands in the name of employment. JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar asked, "Why only one member in a family? Many members, if qualified, can get govt jobs?"

Amit Shah is on a three-day visit to the poll-bound state of Bihar starting from Friday, October 17. During his visit, he met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on his first day of visit.
